My Presidents Day Prayer…

February 15, 2021, is a national holiday known as Presidents Day, originally established to honor both Presidents George Washington, born February 22, and Abraham Lincoln, born February 12. Many people designate this holiday to honor the life of every president.

Today, I recall words the Apostle Paul wrote to fellow believers in the early Church concerning prayer for all people, including government authorities:

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.  1 Timothy 2:1 & 2 (NLT)

My Presidents Day Prayer:

God of Heaven and Earth,

Thank you for the privilege of being a citizen of the United States.

Thank you for every president you have permitted to be placed in a position of authority, from President George Washington to President Joseph Biden.

Help me to always be faithful to pray for not only my president, but for all governing authorities in the various branches of national, state, and local government.

I pray for our nation and ask that our citizens may be blessed with “peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”

Amen

Prayers for peace to each one reading these words today…

Blessings on your journey…
